International Pie Run Day Oct 2009

The last Sturday in October is designated as International Pie Run Day. Now you might ask... What the heck is a Pie Run?

Definition:
Pie Run - Two Wheeled Texan's (an online motorcycle forum) monthly excuse for a ride. Thinly disguised as a "Ride-to-Eat" (RTE), it is a chance for riders from all over the state (and sometimes from other states) to plan routes, organize ride groups, meet with like-minded folk, talk and gawk at all kinds of bikes, eat lunch and have pie for dessert!

History: In late 2004, a small group of TWT riders visited the Koffee Kup in Hico to test out this idea for a "Pie Run". They decided that it would be a monthly event on the last Saturday of each month. The first official event was in January 2005 when approximately 75 people visited the Koffee Kup in Hico.

I've only been attending Pie Run's since March of this year and have had quite a bit of fun at them. Hopefully I'll be able to go back and write about some of them later. The INTERNATIONAL Pie Run came about in 2008 after some forum members in Austrailia planned their own ride to coincide with the designated TWT ride. It was then decided that the last Saturday in October would be a chance for all riders everywhere to go on a run. There would still be a designated place
BUT...If you can't make that one - you must make up your own, a Ride for Pie on the same day, and report it AND take pictures.

Unfortunately the designated ride was just a bit too far from Houston and I had several other things that I needed to get done yesterday so I had to come up with an "alternative pie run"

In the time I had I grabbed a different kind of helmet:
Grabbed a different kind of two wheeled vehicle:
Said sorry to my motorcycle who was sitting in it's corner:
And headed out of the complex:
Luckily I live in one of only a few areas of Houston where there is a bike trail:
Although it is under construction right now so it's all grooved up:
The ride was nice, the weather was wonderful, and the pie?
It was pretty good too.
